D2R Rune List: All 33 Runes and What They Do

Updated 28 October 2026 · Ladder Season 15

Next step: Check Diablo 2: Resurrected item and rune prices →

There are 33 runes in Diablo 2: Resurrected, and this is the full list in order. Each row gives the bonus a rune adds when socketed into a weapon, into armor or a helm, or into a shield, the runewords that consume it, and the rough trade weight we carry for it on the price pages.

Two things matter when you read the table. First, most runes do different things depending on the item they sit in, so a rune that looks weak in armor can still be a fine weapon socket. Second, trade weight has little to do with the bonus. It follows how many runewords burn the rune, which is why a loose Shael is worth a socket but nothing in a trade, and why the top of the list is priced in units of Ber and Jah rather than in gold. If you want the ratios and the reasoning, read the rune values guide. If you want to know which finished runewords hold their value, read the runewords worth trading.

Reading the trade weight column

HR means high rune, the unit most D2R trading is quoted in. One HR is one Ber or one Jah. The figures come from the community softcore trade tables we reference for the price pages, normalized so that one Ber or Jah is about eleven Ist. They are orientation, not a fixed price: a ladder reset moves low and mid runes hard, and the numbers drift as supply builds over a season.

"Bulk only" means the rune is worth effectively nothing on its own and is sold in stacks as runeword material. That is normal for everything up to the mid runes. Nobody trades a single Ral.

Frequently asked questions

How many runes are there in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

33, numbered from El (#1) to Zod (#33). The order is the order they appear in the rune list, and it is also the order the Horadric Cube upgrades them in.

What is the highest rune in Diablo 2?

Zod, rune #33. It makes the socketed item Indestructible. Despite being the last rune it is quoted at about the same weight as Ber or Jah in trade, because few runewords consume it.

Do runes have different effects in weapons and armor?

Yes. Most runes have separate effects for weapons, for armor and helms, and for shields. A few, such as Tir and the four stat runes Io, Lum, Ko and Fal, give the same bonus in any socketed item.

Which runes are worth trading?

Low and mid runes move in bulk and are mostly sold as runeword material. The runes people price items in are the high ones: Ber and Jah are the reference unit, then Lo, Sur and Ohm. See the rune values guide for the ratios.
